Mark Vanry, MBA
Position: President, CEO and Director
Mr. Vanry spent five years as Managing Director and Head of Equity Sales for Canaccord Adams UK. During his tenure, Canaccord Adams became the number one investment dealer for distribution of Canadian equity and equity-linked products to European investors. Prior to that, he was Vice President of US Equity Sales for Raymond James Ltd., also based in London and an Associate in Scotiabank's Latin American division in San Juan, PR. Mr. Vanry is co-founder and current partner of Vanry Capital based in Vancouver, BC.
He holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a BA from the University of British Columbia.
Steve Vanry, CFA, CIM
Position: CFO and Director
Mr. Vanry's career includes over 20 years with public and private natural resource companies at both the management and board levels, concentrated in fund raising, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance and financial reporting. Mr. Vanry is a principal in Vanry Capital Partners, a firm specializing in orchestrating and facilitating the "go-public" process for private natural resource companies. He currently serves as a director and officer of several public companies in the mining sector, playing an active role in strategic planning, corporate governance and business development. He holds the right to use the Chartered Finance Analyst (CFA) and Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designations and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Vancouver Society of Financial Analysts.
Position: Exploration Manager
Paola Chadwick brings over 15 years of experience working primarily with Vancouver-based mineral exploration companies. Paola has managed and run projects, programs and exploration alliances over a wealth of scales and commodity focuses with juniors and majors alike. Paola has extensive field experience working in alkalic and calc-alkaline porphyry copper deposits, epithermal systems and volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits across the western Cordillera including BC, Alaska, Yukon, USA and Mexico.
Ms. Chadwick holds a BSc. in Geology from the University of British Columbia (2003) and is a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) registered with APEGBC since 2011.
Richard Wyman, BSc, MBA
Mr. Wyman began his career as a reservoir engineer with Esso Resources Canada Ltd. in Calgary before becoming a corporate finance associate with Wood Gundy in London. Mr. Wyman returned to Canada to work as an analyst in the corporate finance and treasury department of Gulf Canada Limited in Calgary and Toronto and later became an oil and gas equities research analyst with Peters & Co. Ltd. in Calgary. Following his tenure at Peters & Co., Mr. Wyman became a founding shareholder and director of Smart Pipeline Services Ltd. and Northern Cross (Yukon) Ltd. in Calgary. He returned to a capital market role as a vice-president and senior oil and gas analyst with Canaccord Genuity as part of Canaccord's rebranding process in 2004. He has recently returned to work directly in the oil and gas industry as an officer and director of Northern Cross, an emerging junior oil and gas company focused on exploring for and developing petroleum and natural gas resources in the Yukon.
Mr. Wyman received a bachelor of applied science degree in chemical engineering (honours) from Queen's University in Kingston in 1978 and an MBA from the International Management Institute, University of Geneva, in 1985.
Mr. Shields was engaged in the practice of law from 1979 through 2006 in Calgary and Vancouver, specializing in corporate and securities law and mergers and acquisitions. In 2006 he left the law business and joined Providia, a group engaged in public company start-ups. Mr. Shields was a founding shareholder of Ryland Oil Corporation, and served as its President and a member of the Board from 2007 until its sale to Crescent Point Energy in 2010. Mr. Shields was also a founding shareholder of Rainy River Resources Ltd., a TSX listed gold exploration company. He was elected to the Board of Directors of Rainy River in 2008 and was engaged as Vice President in 2009. He was subsequently appointed General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in 2011, positions he held until the sale of Rainy River to New Gold Inc. in 2013.
Mr. Shields holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Western Ontario.
Stuart Averill, B.Sc. (Hons.), P.Geo.
Mr. Averill is Chairman of Overburden Drilling Management Limited (ODM), a company that he founded in 1974 to develop and apply indicator mineral methods for mineral exploration. He has progressively advanced this novel technology and is now recognized as its pioneer and leading authority. Mr. Averill's specialty is early-stage exploration projects in frontier areas but he has also performed many detailed investigations, including demonstrating that Bre-X's drill core samples had been salted with placer gold grains. He has played a leading role in the discovery of several mineral deposits and new mineral districts in Canada including the very productive Casa Berardi and Rainy River gold districts. He is a former director of Nuinsco Resources Limited and was a director of Rainy River Resources Ltd. from 2005 until the company was acquired by New Gold Inc. in 2013 for $310 million.
Mr. Averill holds a BSc. (Hons.) in geology from the University of Manitoba. He has published several influential papers on indicator minerals and was presented with the PDAC's Distinguished Service Award in 2003.
